My first inclination is to do something that mimics the aesthetics of butterflies, but I wanted to do something functional instead. After a bit of googling, I found out that Apple has a publicly available <a href=\"https:\/\/developer.apple.com\/resources\/cases\/Case-Design-Guidelines.pdf\">document<\/a> that has exact specifications of all its iDevices, as shown in the image above.<\/p>\n<p>After playing around with (found) 3D models, I ended up with a pretty basic sliced model of the iPhone case that I wanted to cut using cardboard to get a sense of.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.rbknrbkn.com\/workandprogress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/case-stacks.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1091\" src=\"http:\/\/www.rbknrbkn.com\/workandprogress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/case-stacks.png\" alt=\"case-stacks\" width=\"934\" height=\"674\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.rbknrbkn.com\/workandprogress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/case-stacks.png 934w, https:\/\/www.rbknrbkn.com\/workandprogress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/case-stacks-300x216.png 300w, https:\/\/www.rbknrbkn.com\/workandprogress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/case-stacks-530x382.png 530w, https:\/\/www.rbknrbkn.com\/workandprogress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/case-stacks-740x534.png 740w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 934px) 100vw, 934px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After multiple failed runs, where the size was either too large or too small, the whole thing felt ugly and uninspired. Acrylic is always my first choice, so no to that. Cardboard is great, but sort of rugged. I went to Staples and found the amazingness that is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.staples.com\/Elmers-Sturdy-Board-Foam-Board-30-inch-x-40-inch-White\/product_506832\">foam board<\/a>. I felt better in this clean, simplified direction.
